The office is a flexible organization which supports system-wide accountability, systems requirements, standards-based curriculum, instruction, and student support. This includes primary responsibility for coordination and implementation of the Department's initiatives to meet the requirements for state and federal mandates.

OCISS consists of two branches:

Curriculum and Instruction Branch (CIB)
Student Support Branch (SSB)
